  • High performance buildings improve business outcomes

High performance buildings improve business outcomes

Providing a workplace that maximizes occupants’ satisfaction has been shown to improve health, comfort and wellbeing. A team of researchers in the Indoor Environment Quality (IEQ) Lab at the University of Sydney has created a range of diagnostic research tools to capture quantitative evidence of acoustics, lighting, indoor air quality and thermal comfort and its effects on occupants’ overall satisfaction. By providing real time analytics, building owners and facility managers can actively address issues and manage resources more efficiently to create the workplace of the future for their tenants.

  • Discover Architecture

Architects shape the spaces in which we live, work and play. From small‑scale domestic projects to the planning of entire cities, the breadth and variety of work for design professionals in the built environment is enormous and growing.

As the world grapples with the challenges of sustainability, rapid population growth, urban planning, and demographic and technological change, the role of architecture in meeting these social, economic and environmental issues has become increasingly significant.

  • 3D printed houses?

    3D printed houses?

While technology has revolutionized so many facets of our daily lives, the building of houses seems firmly stuck in the past, still using the age-old bricks and mortar approach. Now, a team of researchers at the Innovation in Applied Design Lab at the University of Sydney’s Faculty of Architecture, Design and Planning are exploring digital and robotic manufacturing processes that could be used in the construction of pre-fabricated housing, often utilising recycled materials. These findings offer alternatives at a fraction of the cost, time and materials of traditional domestic build.
