These are our stories, what will yours be?
Art expresses the hidden world around us
Sydney College of the Arts lecturers David Haines and Joyce Hinterding have recently held a major exhibition at the MCA, in which they explored the ‘unseen energies that surround us’. These included low frequency radio waves, television signals, paranormal events, satellite transmissions and psychic forces. The pair sought to reveal these to the audience through work that draws on science, the occult and philosophy.
Where will postgraduate study in Music, Film and Visual Arts lead you?
Our students in music, film and visual arts share their stories about the opportunities that postgraduate study has opened up for them.
The Sydney Conservatorium of Music is a creative hub for musicians and scholars, a magical and inspired place where talented musicians and researchers of tomorrow can develop their skills in a fertile academic and performance environment.
SCA graduate Clare Milledge is a Sydney-based artist producing total environment installations that often include sound, painting, performance, sculpture and textiles. Her work reconsiders our relationship to objects, materials, nature and language.
In this interview Milledge discusses her individual approach to research and art making as one that is 'in a state of process'.
Vocal and opera studies
The Vocal and Opera Studies Unit reflects the Sydney Conservatorium of Music’s strong commitment to singing, an environment in which our students have excelled (Dame Joan Sutherland is the most famous example). Together with the Opera School of the Sydney Conservatorium, the Vocal and Opera Studies Unit develops skills in a wide range of repertoire and performance types from the recital to the opera stage.
Conservatorium opera students in rehearsal
Our Con opera students hit the high notes at rehearsals of Bernstein’s MASS for next week’s #contenary performance of a lifetime!
100 years of the Conservatorium
The Sydney Conservatorium of Music celebrated its #contenary on earlier this year with a special performance of Leonard Bernstein's MASS at the Sydney Opera House.
Creating new music is a vital part of studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. The staff of the Composition and Music Technology Unit includes some of Australia’s most gifted and widely recognised composers who work in media ranging from instrumental and vocal to electronic and electroacoustic music.
Discover contemporary moving image production
The Master of Moving Image (MMI) at Sydney College of the Arts offers you a hands-on education in contemporary moving image production by teaching you how to develop a film project from concept to screen.
Foregrounding experimentation and innovation, the MMI brings together traditional aspects of film production with new directions in the cinematic arts, incorporating new technologies in interactivity, three-dimensional imaging and virtual delivery.
